CVE-2026-10118: Poppler: integer overflow in poppler splashoutputdev::tilingpatternfill leads to heap buffer overflow via unchecked dimension multiplication

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 31/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.25% (FIRST EPSS).
  • Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. No account or password is required. A user must open a link or visit a page. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • Fixed version: poppler (AlmaLinux:10) 24.02.0-7.el10_2.2; poppler-cpp (AlmaLinux:10) 24.02.0-7.el10_2.2; poppler-cpp-devel (AlmaLinux:10) 24.02.0-7.el10_2.2.

Low priority for now. Upgrade to poppler (AlmaLinux:10) 24.02.0-7.el10_2.2; poppler-cpp (AlmaLinux:10) 24.02.0-7.el10_2.2; poppler-cpp-devel (AlmaLinux:10) 24.02.0-7.el10_2.2 or later.

Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

A flaw was found in Poppler's Splash backend. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by crafting a malicious PDF file that, when rendered, triggers an integer overflow in the `tilingPatternFill` function. This overflow leads to an undersized heap memory allocation, allowing a subsequent out-of-bounds write. Successful exploitation could result in arbitrary code execution, information disclosure, or denial of service within the context of the application processing the PDF.
