Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 30/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.37% (FIRST EPSS).
- Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. No account or password is required. A user must open a link or visit a page. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: gstreamer1-plugins-good (AlmaLinux:10) 1.26.7-2.el10_2.1; gstreamer1-plugins-good-gtk (AlmaLinux:10) 1.26.7-2.el10_2.1; gstreamer1-plugins-good (AlmaLinux:8) 1.16.1-7.el8_10.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to gstreamer1-plugins-good (AlmaLinux:10) 1.26.7-2.el10_2.1; gstreamer1-plugins-good-gtk (AlmaLinux:10) 1.26.7-2.el10_2.1; gstreamer1-plugins-good (AlmaLinux:8) 1.16.1-7.el8_10 or later.
Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it
Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
A flaw was found in GStreamer's WavPack audio decoder in gst-plugins-good. When processing a specially crafted WavPack file, an integer overflow in the buffer size calculation (4 * block_samples * channels) in gst_wavpack_dec_handle_frame() causes a very small heap allocation. The WavPack library then writes decoded audio samples far beyond the allocated buffer, resulting in heap memory corruption. This affects both 32-bit and 64-bit systems since the arithmetic is performed in 32-bit integers before promotion to the allocation size type. A remote attacker could use this flaw to crash an application or potentially execute arbitrary code by convincing a user to open a malicious WavPack audio file.
