CVE-2025-14523: Libsoup: libsoup: duplicate host header handling causes host-parsing discrepancy (first- vs last-value wins)

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 32/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.54% (FIRST EPSS).
  • Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. No account or password is required. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • According to CISA the attack is automatable: targets can be found by mass scanning.
  • Fixed version: libsoup3-doc (AlmaLinux:10) 3.6.5-3.el10_1.8; libsoup (AlmaLinux:8) 2.62.3-11.el8_10; libsoup-devel (AlmaLinux:8) 2.62.3-11.el8_10.

Low priority for now. Upgrade to libsoup3-doc (AlmaLinux:10) 3.6.5-3.el10_1.8; libsoup (AlmaLinux:8) 2.62.3-11.el8_10; libsoup-devel (AlmaLinux:8) 2.62.3-11.el8_10 or later.

Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

A flaw in libsoup’s HTTP header handling allows multiple Host: headers in a request and returns the last occurrence for server-side processing. Common front proxies often honor the first Host: header, so this mismatch can cause vhost confusion where a proxy routes a request to one backend but the backend interprets it as destined for another host. This discrepancy enables request-smuggling style attacks, cache poisoning, or bypassing host-based access controls when an attacker supplies duplicate Host headers.
