CVE-2026-3238: Samba: denial of service against ad dc wins server
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 31/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 2.6% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 85.7% of all records.
- Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. No account or password is required. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- According to CISA the attack is automatable: targets can be found by mass scanning.
- Fixed version: samba (Alpine:v3.23) 4.22.10-r0; samba (Alpine:v3.24) 4.23.8-r0; samba (Debian:12) 2:4.17.12+dfsg-0+deb12u4.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to samba (Alpine:v3.23) 4.22.10-r0; samba (Alpine:v3.24) 4.23.8-r0; samba (Debian:12) 2:4.17.12+dfsg-0+deb12u4 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
A flaw was found in Samba’s WINS server component when running as an Active Directory Domain Controller. The WINS protocol handlers for certain request types did not properly validate incoming packets, allowing an unauthenticated remote attacker to trigger a NULL pointer dereference and crash the WINS service using specially crafted UDP packets.
