CVE-2025-4948: Libsoup: integer underflow in soup_multipart_new_from_message() leading to denial of service in libsoup

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 30/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.81% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 56.6% of all records.
  • Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. No account or password is required. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • According to CISA the attack is automatable: targets can be found by mass scanning.
  • Fixed version: azl3 libsoup 3.4.4-7 on Azure Linux 3.0 3.4.4-8; azl3 libsoup 3.4.4-8 on Azure Linux 3.0 3.4.4-8; cbl2 libsoup 3.0.4-7 on CBL Mariner 2.0 3.0.4-8.

Low priority for now. Upgrade to azl3 libsoup 3.4.4-7 on Azure Linux 3.0 3.4.4-8; azl3 libsoup 3.4.4-8 on Azure Linux 3.0 3.4.4-8; cbl2 libsoup 3.0.4-7 on CBL Mariner 2.0 3.0.4-8 or later.

Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

A flaw was found in the soup_multipart_new_from_message() function of the libsoup HTTP library, which is commonly used by GNOME and other applications to handle web communications. The issue occurs when the library processes specially crafted multipart messages. Due to improper validation, an internal calculation can go wrong, leading to an integer underflow. This can cause the program to access invalid memory and crash. As a result, any application or server using libsoup could be forced to exit unexpectedly, creating a denial-of-service (DoS) risk.
