Libsoup: libsoup: integer truncation in sort_ranges() comparator causes silent omission of http range responses
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 21/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.23% (FIRST EPSS).
- Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. No account or password is required. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- According to CISA the attack is automatable: targets can be found by mass scanning.
- Fixed version: azl3 libsoup 3.4.4-16 on Azure Linux 3.0 3.4.4-17; azl3 libsoup 3.4.4-17 on Azure Linux 3.0 3.4.4-17.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to azl3 libsoup 3.4.4-16 on Azure Linux 3.0 3.4.4-17; azl3 libsoup 3.4.4-17 on Azure Linux 3.0 3.4.4-17 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
A flaw was found in libsoup's SoupServer HTTP Range header processing. The sort_ranges() comparator in soup-message-headers.c truncates a 64-bit subtraction result to 32-bit int, flipping the sign for range offsets differing by more than INT_MAX. This causes silent omission of requested byte ranges from HTTP 206 Partial Content responses on resources larger than approximately 2 GB.
