CVE-2026-27799: ImageMagick has a heap Buffer Over-read in its DJVU image format handler
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 17/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.14% (FIRST EPSS).
- Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: imagemagick (Debian:12) 8:6.9.11.60+dfsg-1.6+deb12u7; imagemagick (Debian:13) 8:7.1.1.43+dfsg1-1+deb13u6; imagemagick (Debian:14) 8:7.1.2.15+dfsg1-1.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to imagemagick (Debian:12) 8:6.9.11.60+dfsg-1.6+deb12u7; imagemagick (Debian:13) 8:7.1.1.43+dfsg1-1+deb13u6; imagemagick (Debian:14) 8:7.1.2.15+dfsg1-1 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Prior to versions 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40, a heap buffer over-read vulnerability exists in the DJVU image format handler. The vulnerability occurs due to integer truncation when calculating the stride (row size) for pixel buffer allocation. The stride calculation overflows a 32-bit signed integer, resulting in an out-of-bounds memory reads. Versions 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40 contain a patch.
