CVE-2026-25969: ImageMagick has Memory Leak in coders/ashlar.c

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 30/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.40% (FIRST EPSS).
  • Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. No account or password is required. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • According to CISA the attack is automatable: targets can be found by mass scanning.
  • Fixed version: imagemagick (Debian:13) 8:7.1.1.43+dfsg1-1+deb13u6; imagemagick (Debian:14) 8:7.1.2.15+dfsg1-1; Magick.NET-Q16-AnyCPU (NuGet) 14.10.3.
  • Severity is disputed: the assigning authority (CNA) scores it 5.3, NVD 7.5.

Low priority for now. Upgrade to imagemagick (Debian:13) 8:7.1.1.43+dfsg1-1+deb13u6; imagemagick (Debian:14) 8:7.1.2.15+dfsg1-1; Magick.NET-Q16-AnyCPU (NuGet) 14.10.3 or later.

Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Prior to version 7.1.2-15, a memory leak exists in `coders/ashlar.c`. The `WriteASHLARImage` allocates a structure. However, when an exception is thrown, the allocated memory is not properly released, resulting in a potential memory leak. Version 7.1.2-15 contains a patch.
