CVE-2024-57973: rdma/cxgb4: Prevent potential integer overflow on 32bit

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 22/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.66% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 51.8% of all records.
  • Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • Fixed version: Linux Linux 2b759f78b83221f4a1cae3aeb20b500e375f3ee6, 4422f452d028850b9cc4fd8f1cf45a8ff91855eb, aeb814484387811b3579d5c78ad4eb301e3bf1c8; azl3 kernel 6.6.64.2-9 on Azure Linux 3.0 6.6.78.1-3; azl3 kernel 6.6.78.1-3 on Azure Linux 3.0 6.6.78.1-3.
  • Severity is disputed: the assigning authority (CNA) scores it 8.1, NVD 5.5.

Low priority for now. Upgrade to Linux Linux 2b759f78b83221f4a1cae3aeb20b500e375f3ee6, 4422f452d028850b9cc4fd8f1cf45a8ff91855eb, aeb814484387811b3579d5c78ad4eb301e3bf1c8; azl3 kernel 6.6.64.2-9 on Azure Linux 3.0 6.6.78.1-3; azl3 kernel 6.6.78.1-3 on Azure Linux 3.0 6.6.78.1-3 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rdma/cxgb4: Prevent potential integer overflow on 32bit The "gl->tot_len" variable is controlled by the user. It comes from process_responses(). On 32bit systems, the "gl->tot_len + sizeof(struct cpl_pass_accept_req) + sizeof(struct rss_header)" addition could have an integer wrapping bug. Use size_add() to prevent this.
