CVE-2024-38587: speakup: Fix sizeof() vs ARRAY_SIZE() bug

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 31/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.78% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 56.1% of all records.
  • Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: speakup: Fix sizeof() vs ARRAY_SIZE() bug The "buf" pointer is an array of u16 values. This code should be using ARRAY_SIZE() (which is 256) instead of sizeof() (which is 512), otherwise it can the still got out of bounds.
