CVE-2026-74302: Bluetooth: hci_core: Fix UAF in hci_unregister_dev()
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 31/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.12% (FIRST EPSS).
- Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: Linux Linux 4.20, 48c7ad6afcc58c2cda11fed39791708103b6a644, 5.11; azl3 kernel 6.6.152.1-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 Release Notes; azl3 kernel 6.6.157.1-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 6.6.159.1-1.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to Linux Linux 4.20, 48c7ad6afcc58c2cda11fed39791708103b6a644, 5.11; azl3 kernel 6.6.152.1-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 Release Notes; azl3 kernel 6.6.157.1-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 6.6.159.1-1 or later.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: hci_core: Fix UAF in hci_unregister_dev() hci_unregister_dev() does not disable cmd_timer and ncmd_timer before the hci_dev structure is freed. If a timeout fires during device teardown, the callback dereferences freed memory (including the hdev->reset function pointer), leading to a use-after-free. Add disable_delayed_work_sync() calls alongside the existing disable_work_sync() calls to ensure both timers are fully quiesced before teardown proceeds.
