CVE-2026-64111: lsm: hold cred_guard_mutex for lsm_set_self_attr()

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 28/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.13% (FIRST EPSS).
  • Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • Fixed version: Linux Linux 4a9b16541ad3faf8bccb398532bf3f8b6bbf1188, 5b906f31e977286888a9e31282589b545b249139, 82d3acee88593e3d9e71cad4b7d6b3cf70de9d07.

Low priority for now. Upgrade to Linux Linux 4a9b16541ad3faf8bccb398532bf3f8b6bbf1188, 5b906f31e977286888a9e31282589b545b249139, 82d3acee88593e3d9e71cad4b7d6b3cf70de9d07 or later.

Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: lsm: hold cred_guard_mutex for lsm_set_self_attr() Just as proc_pid_attr_write() already does before calling the LSM hook. This only matters for SELinux and AppArmor which check whether the process is being ptraced and if so, whether to allow the transition.
