CVE-2026-64104: virt: sev-guest: Explicitly leak pages in unknown state
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 34/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.16% (FIRST EPSS).
- Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: Linux Linux 3d0cd0065deeb054b4b29236432e851806b7cc81, 6.14, bee400ad4f4259c9c0758e4f1960a1eed6f6f9f0.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to Linux Linux 3d0cd0065deeb054b4b29236432e851806b7cc81, 6.14, bee400ad4f4259c9c0758e4f1960a1eed6f6f9f0 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: virt: sev-guest: Explicitly leak pages in unknown state When set_memory_{encrypted,decrypted}() fail, the user cannot know at which point the function failed, meaning that the pages are left in an unknown state from the point of view of the caller. Since the pages may be left in an unencrypted state, they are not suitable for general use, and cannot be returned safely to the buddy allocator. Avoid the issue by never freeing the pages, and then do the proper accounting by calling snp_leak_pages().

Variant candidates
Same product, same weakness class, within 18 months. If the patch missed the root cause, the sibling bug is here.
No nightly-computed relations.
Chain candidates
An authentication bypass and a privilege-requiring bug in the same product, published close together: combined they may become an unauthenticated path.
