CVE-2026-46233: batman-adv: bla: only purge non-released claims

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 22/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.11% (FIRST EPSS).
  • Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • Fixed version: Linux Linux 6725c523a35eeca611ff37e7d4a8712fae92aefd, 7b7ebb7222a5524ce58e48cc9c6d688320ea6cfe, 7b8fbcee3184d848b5aee085ca16d0cf05c9b641; azl3 kernel 6.6.139.1-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 6.6.141.1-1.
  • Mentioned 1 time in Turkish national cyber security advisories (siberguvenlik.gov.tr).

Low priority for now. Upgrade to Linux Linux 6725c523a35eeca611ff37e7d4a8712fae92aefd, 7b7ebb7222a5524ce58e48cc9c6d688320ea6cfe, 7b8fbcee3184d848b5aee085ca16d0cf05c9b641; azl3 kernel 6.6.139.1-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 6.6.141.1-1 or later.

Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: batman-adv: bla: only purge non-released claims When batadv_bla_purge_claims() goes through the list of claims, it is only traversing the hash list with an rcu_read_lock(). Due to a potential parallel batadv_claim_put(), it can happen that it encounters a claim which was actually in the process of being released+freed by batadv_claim_release(). In this case, backbone_gw is set to NULL before the delayed RCU kfree is started. Calling batadv_bla_claim_get_backbone_gw() is then no longer allowed because it would cause a NULL-ptr derefence. To avoid this, only claims with a valid reference counter must be purged. All others are already taken care of.

Variant candidates

Same product, same weakness class, within 18 months. If the patch missed the root cause, the sibling bug is here.

No nightly-computed relations.

Chain candidates

An authentication bypass and a privilege-requiring bug in the same product, published close together: combined they may become an unauthenticated path.
