CVE-2026-22987: net/sched: act_api: avoid dereferencing ERR_PTR in tcf_idrinfo_destroy
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 22/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.12% (FIRST EPSS).
- Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: Linux Linux 67550a1130b647bb0d093c9c0a810c69aa6a30a8, adb25a46dc0a43173f5ea5f5f58fc8ba28970c7c.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to Linux Linux 67550a1130b647bb0d093c9c0a810c69aa6a30a8, adb25a46dc0a43173f5ea5f5f58fc8ba28970c7c or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: act_api: avoid dereferencing ERR_PTR in tcf_idrinfo_destroy syzbot reported a crash in tc_act_in_hw() during netns teardown where tcf_idrinfo_destroy() passed an ERR_PTR(-EBUSY) value as a tc_action pointer, leading to an invalid dereference. Guard against ERR_PTR entries when iterating the action IDR so teardown does not call tc_act_in_hw() on an error pointer.

Same product, same weakness class, within 18 months. If the patch missed the root cause, the sibling bug is here.
No nightly-computed relations.
Chain candidates
An authentication bypass and a privilege-requiring bug in the same product, published close together: combined they may become an unauthenticated path.
