CVE-2025-68753: ALSA: firewire-motu: add bounds check in put_user loop for DSP events

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 28/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.17% (FIRST EPSS).
  • Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • Fixed version: Linux Linux 0d71b3c2ed742f1ccb3b0b7a61afb90c0251093f, 298e753880b6ea99ac30df34959a7a03b0878eed, 6d4f17782ce4facf3197e79707df411ee3d7b30a; azl3 kernel 6.6.119.3-3 on Azure Linux 3.0 6.6.121.1-1.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: firewire-motu: add bounds check in put_user loop for DSP events In the DSP event handling code, a put_user() loop copies event data. When the user buffer size is not aligned to 4 bytes, it could overwrite beyond the buffer boundary. Fix by adding a bounds check before put_user().
