bpf: mark bpf_dummy_struct_ops.test_1 parameter as nullable
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 22/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.18% (FIRST EPSS).
- Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: Linux Linux 1479eaff1f16983d8fda7c5a08a586c21891087d, 7f79097b0de97a486b137b750d7dd7b20b519d23; azl3 kernel 6.6.152.1-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 Release Notes; azl3 kernel 6.6.157.1-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 Release Notes.
- Mentioned 1 time in Turkish national cyber security advisories (siberguvenlik.gov.tr).
Low priority for now. Upgrade to Linux Linux 1479eaff1f16983d8fda7c5a08a586c21891087d, 7f79097b0de97a486b137b750d7dd7b20b519d23; azl3 kernel 6.6.152.1-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 Release Notes; azl3 kernel 6.6.157.1-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 Release Notes or later.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: mark bpf_dummy_struct_ops.test_1 parameter as nullable Test case dummy_st_ops/dummy_init_ret_value passes NULL as the first parameter of the test_1() function. Mark this parameter as nullable to make verifier aware of such possibility. Otherwise, NULL check in the test_1() code: SEC("struct_ops/test_1") int BPF_PROG(test_1, struct bpf_dummy_ops_state *state) { if (!state) return ...; ... access state ... } Might be removed by verifier, thus triggering NULL pointer dereference under certain conditions.

Variant candidates
Same product, same weakness class, within 18 months. If the patch missed the root cause, the sibling bug is here.
No nightly-computed relations.
Chain candidates
An authentication bypass and a privilege-requiring bug in the same product, published close together: combined they may become an unauthenticated path.
