CVE-2023-53800: ubi: Fix use-after-free when volume resizing failed
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 31/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.13% (FIRST EPSS).
- Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: Linux Linux 35f8d4064e54c18424db2997059d4c0b1d13d093, 3d6378f7056ac7350338f941001162a8f660853c, 53818746e549e61841428892a8d94344494be797.

It means that the liftcycle of "vol->eba_tbl" and "vol" are different, so when resizing volume in next time, it causing an use-after-free fault. Fix it by not freeing "new_eba_tbl" after it replaced in ubi_eba_replace_table(), while will be freed in next volume resizing.

Same product, same weakness class, within 18 months. If the patch missed the root cause, the sibling bug is here.
No nightly-computed relations.
Chain candidates
An authentication bypass and a privilege-requiring bug in the same product, published close together: combined they may become an unauthenticated path.
