CVE-2023-52698: calipso: fix memory leak in netlbl_calipso_add_pass()
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 22/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.22% (FIRST EPSS).
- Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: Linux Linux 321b3a5592c8a9d6b654c7c64833ea67dbb33149, 36e19f84634aaa94f543fedc0a07588949638d53, 408bbd1e1746fe33e51f4c81c2febd7d3841d031.
- Mentioned 1 time in Turkish national cyber security advisories (siberguvenlik.gov.tr).
Low priority for now. Upgrade to Linux Linux 321b3a5592c8a9d6b654c7c64833ea67dbb33149, 36e19f84634aaa94f543fedc0a07588949638d53, 408bbd1e1746fe33e51f4c81c2febd7d3841d031 or later.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: calipso: fix memory leak in netlbl_calipso_add_pass() If IPv6 support is disabled at boot (ipv6.disable=1), the calipso_init() -> netlbl_calipso_ops_register() function isn't called, and the netlbl_calipso_ops_get() function always returns NULL. In this case, the netlbl_calipso_add_pass() function allocates memory for the doi_def variable but doesn't free it with the calipso_doi_free(). Timeline
From publication to today: proof of concept, Metasploit module, CISA KEV and fix record. Dates are as reported by the sources.
No dated events beyond publication.
No history yet (it accumulates with the daily EPSS job).
Patch and commit links
Commit, PR and diff links among the references. A starting point for patch-diffing and variant hunting; fixes, not exploits.

Credits

No credits in the CNA record.
Variant candidates
Same product, same weakness class, within 18 months. If the patch missed the root cause, the sibling bug is here.
No nightly-computed relations.
Chain candidates
An authentication bypass and a privilege-requiring bug in the same product, published close together: combined they may become an unauthenticated path.
