CVE-2020-12691: An issue was discovered in OpenStack Keystone before 15.0.1, and 16.0.0.

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 36/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 4.9% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 92% of all records.
  • Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • Fixed version: keystone (Debian:10) 2:14.2.0-0+deb10u1; keystone (Debian:12) 2:17.0.0~rc2-1; keystone (PyPI) 16.0.1, 15.0.1.

Low priority for now. Upgrade to keystone (Debian:10) 2:14.2.0-0+deb10u1; keystone (Debian:12) 2:17.0.0~rc2-1; keystone (PyPI) 16.0.1, 15.0.1 or later.

Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

An issue was discovered in OpenStack Keystone before 15.0.1, and 16.0.0. Any authenticated user can create an EC2 credential for themselves for a project that they have a specified role on, and then perform an update to the credential user and project, allowing them to masquerade as another user. This potentially allows a malicious user to act as the admin on a project another user has the admin role on, which can effectively grant that user global admin privileges.

No nightly-computed relations.

Chain candidates

An authentication bypass and a privilege-requiring bug in the same product, published close together: combined they may become an unauthenticated path.
