Integer Overflow in Query Planner Leads to Unbounded Memory Allocation and Denial of Service in MongoDB Server
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 28/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.41% (FIRST EPSS).
- Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: MongoDB MongoDB Server 7.0.41, 8.0.30, 8.3.9.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to MongoDB MongoDB Server 7.0.41, 8.0.30, 8.3.9 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
An integer overflow in the query planning component of MongoDB Server can allow an authenticated user with ordinary database-level read/write privileges to bypass an internal resource limit. Submitting a specially crafted query causes the server to consume memory without bound during query planning, and the resulting exhaustion terminates the server process. This may result in a denial of service affecting all databases served by the affected node.
