NULL pointer dereference in SOAP apache:Map decoder with missing <value>
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 11/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 1% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 63.2% of all records.
- Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. No account or password is required. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- According to CISA the attack is automatable: targets can be found by mass scanning.
- Fixed version: PHP Group PHP 8.2.31, 8.3.31, 8.4.21.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to PHP Group PHP 8.2.31, 8.3.31, 8.4.21 or later.
Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it
In PHP versions 8.2.* before 8.2.31, 8.3.* before 8.3.31, 8.4.* before 8.4.21, and 8.5.* before 8.5.6, when a SOAP server has a typemap configured, the decoding process contains a mistake which checks the wrong variable in case of missing value element. This leads to dereferences a NULL pointer, causing a segmentation fault. This allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to crash the PHP SOAP server process, resulting in denial of service.
