CVE-2026-55878: Symfony: Path Traversal in symfony/ux-toolkit Allows Arbitrary File Write and Read via Crafted Recipe Manifest
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 31/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.19% (FIRST EPSS).
- Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. No account or password is required. A user must open a link or visit a page. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: symfony/ux-toolkit (Packagist) 2.36.1, 3.2.0.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to symfony/ux-toolkit (Packagist) 2.36.1, 3.2.0 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
Symfony UX is a JavaScript ecosystem for Symfony. From 2.32.0 before 2.36.1 and from 3.0.0 before 3.2.0, the ux:install console command installs files from a recipe kit by copying paths listed in a copy-files map, and because Path::isRelative() accepts paths like ../../../etc, a crafted or compromised kit can write attacker-controlled content to arbitrary locations or read local files outside the recipe directory. This issue is fixed in versions 2.36.1 and 3.2.0.
