Session Cache Restore — Arbitrary Free via Deserialized Pointer
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 16/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.23% (FIRST EPSS).
- Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. Administrator privileges are required. Special conditions such as timing or configuration are required.
- No fixed version is recorded, but the references include a patch (commit or PR) link.
Low priority for now. See the fix and affected versions sections below.
Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it
Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
When restoring a session from cache, a pointer from the serialized session data is used in a free operation without validation. An attacker who can poison the session cache could trigger an arbitrary free. Exploitation requires the ability to inject a crafted session into the cache and for the application to call specific session restore APIs.

Root cause
Data received over the network is deserialized into the language’s native object format without verifying its source. Code paths inside the object can be triggered during deserialization.
