CVE-2026-45185: Exim before 4.99.3, in certain GnuTLS configurations, has a remotely reachable use-after-free in the BDAT body parsing path.

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 39/100)

  • Public proof-of-concept code exists (GitHub); there is no record of exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 1.2% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 69.8% of all records.
  • Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. No account or password is required. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • According to CISA the attack is automatable: targets can be found by mass scanning.
  • Fixed version: exim4 (Debian:12) 4.96-15+deb12u9; exim4 (Debian:13) 4.98.2-1+deb13u2; exim4 (Debian:14) 4.99.2-2.

Low priority for now. Upgrade to exim4 (Debian:12) 4.96-15+deb12u9; exim4 (Debian:13) 4.98.2-1+deb13u2; exim4 (Debian:14) 4.99.2-2 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

Exim before 4.99.3, in certain GnuTLS configurations, has a remotely reachable use-after-free in the BDAT body parsing path. It is triggered when a client sends a TLS close_notify mid-body during a CHUNKING transfer, followed by a final cleartext byte on the same TCP connection. This can lead to heap corruption. An unauthenticated network attacker exploiting this vulnerability could execute arbitrary code.
