CVE-2026-44967: opentelemetry-cpp: OTLP HTTP exporters read unbounded HTTP response
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 21/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.20% (FIRST EPSS).
- Someone on the same network segment can trigger it. No account or password is required. No user action is required. Special conditions such as timing or configuration are required.
- Fixed version: azl3 opentelemetry-cpp 1.14.2-2 on Azure Linux 3.0 1.14.2-3; azl3 opentelemetry-cpp 1.14.2-3 on Azure Linux 3.0 1.14.2-3.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to azl3 opentelemetry-cpp 1.14.2-2 on Azure Linux 3.0 1.14.2-3; azl3 opentelemetry-cpp 1.14.2-3 on Azure Linux 3.0 1.14.2-3 or later.

OpenTelemetry-cpp is the C++ implementation of OpenTelemetry. Prior to release 1.27.0, the OTLP HTTP exporters (traces/metrics/logs) read the full HTTP response into an in-memory vector of bytes without a size cap. This is exploitable for memory exhaustion when the configured collector endpoint is attacker-controlled (or a network attacker can MITM the exporter connection). This vulnerability is fixed in opentelemetry-cpp release 1.27.0.
