CVE-2026-35169: LORIS has potential cross-site scripting in help_editor module
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 21/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.15% (FIRST EPSS).
- Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. A user must open a link or visit a page. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: aces Loris 27.0.3.
- Severity is disputed: the assigning authority (CNA) scores it 8.7, NVD 5.4.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to aces Loris 27.0.3 or later.

LORIS (Longitudinal Online Research and Imaging System) is a self-hosted web application that provides data- and project-management for neuroimaging research. From to before 27.0.3 and 28.0.1, the help_editor module of LORIS did not properly sanitize some user supplied variables which could result in a reflected cross-site scripting attack if a user is tricked into following an invalid link. The same input vector could also allow an attacker to download arbitrary markdown files on an unpatched server. This vulnerability is fixed in 27.0.3 and 28.0.1.
