CVE-2026-32647: NGINX ngx_http_mp4_module vulnerability

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 34/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.93% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 60.4% of all records.
  • Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • Fixed version: F5 NGINX Open Source 1.28.3, 1.29.7; azl3 nginx 1.28.2-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 1.28.3-1; cbl2 nginx 1.22.1-15 on CBL Mariner 2.0 1.22.1-16.

Low priority for now. Upgrade to F5 NGINX Open Source 1.28.3, 1.29.7; azl3 nginx 1.28.2-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 1.28.3-1; cbl2 nginx 1.22.1-15 on CBL Mariner 2.0 1.22.1-16 or later.

Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

NGINX Open Source and NGINX Plus have a vulnerability in the ngx_http_mp4_module module, which might allow an attacker to trigger a buffer over-read or over-write to the NGINX worker memory resulting in its termination or possibly code execution, using a specially crafted MP4 file. This issue affects NGINX Open Source and NGINX Plus if it is built with the ngx_http_mp4_module module and the mp4 directive is used in the configuration file. Additionally, the attack is possible only if an attacker can trigger the processing of a specially crafted MP4 file with the ngx_http_mp4_module module. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.
