CVE-2026-32124: OpenEMR: Dynamic Code Picker Renders Unescaped Descriptions (Stored XSS)
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 21/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.16% (FIRST EPSS).
- Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. A user must open a link or visit a page. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: openemr openemr 8.0.0.1.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to openemr openemr 8.0.0.1 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
OpenEMR is a free and open source electronic health records and medical practice management application. Prior to 8.0.0.1, the dynamic code picker AJAX endpoint returns code descriptions (code_text) that are rendered in the front end (e.g. DataTables) without HTML escaping. If an administrator (or user with code management rights) creates or edits a code with a malicious description containing script, that script runs in the browser of every user who uses the picker. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.0.0.1.

Limit the impact of XSS
This is a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. A well-configured Content-Security-Policy doesn't fix it, but greatly reduces its impact. Check your site's CSP and other security headers for free.
