WWBN AVideo: Unauthenticated SQL Injection via JSON Request Bypass in objects/videos.json.php

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 39/100)

  • A ready-made attack module is public (Metasploit); exploiting it takes no special expertise.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 1.4% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 72.2% of all records.
  • Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. No account or password is required. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • According to CISA the attack is automatable: targets can be found by mass scanning.
  • Fixed version: WWBN AVideo 24.0.

Low priority for now. Upgrade to WWBN AVideo 24.0 or later.

Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

WWBN AVideo is an open source video platform. Prior to version 24.0, an unauthenticated SQL Injection vulnerability exists in AVideo within the objects/videos.json.php and objects/video.php components. The application fails to properly sanitize the catName parameter when it is supplied via a JSON-formatted POST request body. Because JSON input is parsed and merged into $_REQUEST after global security checks are executed, the payload bypasses the existing sanitization mechanisms. This issue has been patched in version 24.0.
