CVE-2025-6199: Gdk-pixbuf: uninitialized memory disclosure in gdkpixbuf gif lzw decoder
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 13/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.20% (FIRST EPSS).
- Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. No account or password is required. A user must open a link or visit a page. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gdk-pixbuf/ gdk-pixbuf 2.43.2.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gdk-pixbuf/ gdk-pixbuf 2.43.2 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
A flaw was found in the GIF parser of GdkPixbuf’s LZW decoder. When an invalid symbol is encountered during decompression, the decoder sets the reported output size to the full buffer length rather than the actual number of written bytes. This logic error results in uninitialized sections of the buffer being included in the output, potentially leaking arbitrary memory contents in the processed image.
