CVE-2024-45336: Sensitive headers incorrectly sent after cross-domain redirect in net/http
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 24/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.72% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 54.1% of all records.
- Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. No account or password is required. A user must open a link or visit a page. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: Go standard library net/http 1.22.11, 1.23.5, 1.24.0-rc.2; azl3 golang 1.23.7-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 1.23.7-1; azl3 golang 1.23.9-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 1.23.7-1.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to Go standard library net/http 1.22.11, 1.23.5, 1.24.0-rc.2; azl3 golang 1.23.7-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 1.23.7-1; azl3 golang 1.23.9-1 on Azure Linux 3.0 1.23.7-1 or later.
Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it
Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
The HTTP client drops sensitive headers after following a cross-domain redirect. For example, a request to a.com/ containing an Authorization header which is redirected to b.com/ will not send that header to b.com. In the event that the client received a subsequent same-domain redirect, however, the sensitive headers would be restored. For example, a chain of redirects from a.com/, to b.com/1, and finally to b.com/2 would incorrectly send the Authorization header to b.com/2.
