CVE-2024-2496: Libvirt: null pointer dereference in udevconnectlistallinterfaces()
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 22/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.25% (FIRST EPSS).
- Someone with local access to the system can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: gitlab.com/libvirt/libvirt/ libvirt 9.7.0.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to gitlab.com/libvirt/libvirt/ libvirt 9.7.0 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
A NULL pointer dereference flaw was found in the udevConnectListAllInterfaces() function in libvirt. This issue can occur when detaching a host interface while at the same time collecting the list of interfaces via virConnectListAllInterfaces API. This flaw could be used to perform a denial of service attack by causing the libvirt daemon to crash.
