CVE-2023-3347: Samba: smb2 packet signing is not enforced when "server signing = required" is set
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 23/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.43% (FIRST EPSS).
- Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. No account or password is required. No user action is required. Special conditions such as timing or configuration are required.
- Fixed version: ctdb (AlmaLinux:8) 4.17.5-3.el8_8.alma; libnetapi (AlmaLinux:8) 4.17.5-3.el8_8.alma; libnetapi-devel (AlmaLinux:8) 4.17.5-3.el8_8.alma.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to ctdb (AlmaLinux:8) 4.17.5-3.el8_8.alma; libnetapi (AlmaLinux:8) 4.17.5-3.el8_8.alma; libnetapi-devel (AlmaLinux:8) 4.17.5-3.el8_8.alma or later.
Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it
Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
A vulnerability was found in Samba's SMB2 packet signing mechanism. The SMB2 packet signing is not enforced if an admin configured "server signing = required" or for SMB2 connections to Domain Controllers where SMB2 packet signing is mandatory. This flaw allows an attacker to perform attacks, such as a man-in-the-middle attack, by intercepting the network traffic and modifying the SMB2 messages between client and server, affecting the integrity of the data.
