Keycloak: reflected xss attack

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 24/100)

  • Public proof-of-concept code exists (GitHub); there is no record of exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 1.1% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 67.4% of all records.
  • Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. No account or password is required. A user must open a link or visit a page. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • Fixed version: org.keycloak:keycloak-parent (Maven) 20.0.5.
  • Severity is disputed: the assigning authority (CNA) scores it 8.1, NVD 6.1.

Low priority for now. Upgrade to org.keycloak:keycloak-parent (Maven) 20.0.5 or later.

Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

A reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability was found in the 'oob' OAuth endpoint due to incorrect null-byte handling. This issue allows a malicious link to insert an arbitrary URI into a Keycloak error page. This flaw requires a user or administrator to interact with a link in order to be vulnerable. This may compromise user details, allowing it to be changed or collected by an attacker.
