CVE-2020-6650: Arbitrary code execution through “Update Manager” Class
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 36/100)
- Public proof-of-concept code exists (GitHub); there is no record of exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 2.1% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 81.6% of all records.
- Someone on the same network segment can trigger it. No account or password is required. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- According to the record, no fixed version is available yet.
Low priority for now. Update when a fix is released; follow the vendor's advisory.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
UPS companion software v1.05 & Prior is affected by ‘Eval Injection’ vulnerability. The software does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes code syntax before using the input in a dynamic evaluation call e.g.”eval” in “Update Manager” class when software attempts to see if there are updates available. This results in arbitrary code execution on the machine where software is installed.
