CVE-2020-5258: Prototype pollution in dojo
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 31/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 4% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 90.5% of all records.
- Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. A user must open a link or visit a page. Special conditions such as timing or configuration are required.
- Fixed version: dojo (Debian:12) 1.15.3+dfsg1-1; dojo (Debian:8) 1.10.2+dfsg-1+deb8u3; dojo (npm) 1.12.8, 1.13.7, 1.14.6.
- Mentioned 6 times in Turkish national cyber security advisories (siberguvenlik.gov.tr).
Low priority for now. Upgrade to dojo (Debian:12) 1.15.3+dfsg1-1; dojo (Debian:8) 1.10.2+dfsg-1+deb8u3; dojo (npm) 1.12.8, 1.13.7, 1.14.6 or later.

In affected versions of dojo (NPM package), the deepCopy method is vulnerable to Prototype Pollution. Prototype Pollution refers to the ability to inject properties into existing JavaScript language construct prototypes, such as objects. An attacker manipulates these attributes to overwrite, or pollute, a JavaScript application object prototype of the base object by injecting other values. This has been patched in versions 1.12.8, 1.13.7, 1.14.6, 1.15.3 and 1.16.2

Is the Dojo on your site affected?
The free JavaScript library scanner reads the Dojo version from the files your site loads, matches this record and other known vulnerabilities, and gives the safe version on the same branch. If the version can't be read, it says so. No account needed.
