CVE-2019-14318: Crypto++ 8.3.0 and earlier contains a timing side channel in ECDSA signature generation.
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 24/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 3.1% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 87.7% of all records.
- Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. No account or password is required. No user action is required. Special conditions such as timing or configuration are required.
- Fixed version: libcrypto++ (Debian:12) 5.6.4-9; libcryptopp (openSUSE:Leap 15.0) 5.6.5-bp151.4.3.1; libcryptopp (openSUSE:Tumbleweed) 8.6.0-1.1.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to libcrypto++ (Debian:12) 5.6.4-9; libcryptopp (openSUSE:Leap 15.0) 5.6.5-bp151.4.3.1; libcryptopp (openSUSE:Tumbleweed) 8.6.0-1.1 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
Crypto++ 8.3.0 and earlier contains a timing side channel in ECDSA signature generation. This allows a local or remote attacker, able to measure the duration of hundreds to thousands of signing operations, to compute the private key used. The issue occurs because scalar multiplication in ecp.cpp (prime field curves, small leakage) and algebra.cpp (binary field curves, large leakage) is not constant time and leaks the bit length of the scalar among other information.
