Nextcloud Contacts vulnerable to Stored XSS in contacts app via organisation and title field
Noroxi assessment
Priority: Monitor (action score 21/100)
- The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
- Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.25% (FIRST EPSS).
- Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. A user must open a link or visit a page. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
- Fixed version: nextcloud security-advisories 5.5.4.
Low priority for now. Upgrade to nextcloud security-advisories 5.5.4 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS
Contacts app for Nextcloud easily syncs contacts from various devices with your Nextcloud and allows editing. Prior to 5.5.4, 6.0.6, and 7.2.5, a malicious user was able to modify their organisation and title field to load additional CSS files. Javascript and other options were correctly blocked by the content security policy of the Nextcloud Server code. This vulnerability is fixed in 5.5.4, 6.0.6, and 7.2.5.

Variant candidates
Same product, same weakness class, within 18 months. If the patch missed the root cause, the sibling bug is here.
No nightly-computed relations.
Chain candidates
An authentication bypass and a privilege-requiring bug in the same product, published close together: combined they may become an unauthenticated path.
