Emlog is Vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in "Twitter" Feature via Markdown Input

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 20/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.20% (FIRST EPSS).
  • Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. A low-privileged account is enough. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • According to the record, no fixed version is available yet.

Low priority for now. Update when a fix is released; follow the vendor's advisory.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

Emlog is an open source website building system. A stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in the "Twitter"feature of EMLOG Pro 2.5.21 and below. An authenticated user with privileges to post a "Twitter" message can inject arbitrary JavaScript code. The malicious script is stored on the server and gets executed in the browser of any user, including administrators, when they click on the malicious post to view it. This issue does not currently have a fix.

Limit the impact of XSS

This is a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. A well-configured Content-Security-Policy doesn't fix it, but greatly reduces its impact. Check your site's CSP and other security headers for free.
