nvme-fc: use lock accessing port_state and rport state

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 35/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.36% (FIRST EPSS).
  • Someone on the same network segment can trigger it. No account or password is required. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • Fixed version: Linux Linux 25f4bf1f7979a7871974fd36c79d69ff1cf4b446, 4253e0a4546138a2bf9cb6acf66b32fee677fc7c, 891cdbb162ccdb079cd5228ae43bdeebce8597ad.

Low priority for now. Upgrade to Linux Linux 25f4bf1f7979a7871974fd36c79d69ff1cf4b446, 4253e0a4546138a2bf9cb6acf66b32fee677fc7c, 891cdbb162ccdb079cd5228ae43bdeebce8597ad or later.

Generated automatically from the record's data: CVSS (NVD and CNA), CISA KEV and SSVC, FIRST EPSS, exploit sources, fixed versions. How we calculate it

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvme-fc: use lock accessing port_state and rport state nvme_fc_unregister_remote removes the remote port on a lport object at any point in time when there is no active association. This races with with the reconnect logic, because nvme_fc_create_association is not taking a lock to check the port_state and atomically increase the active count on the rport.

Variant candidates

Same product, same weakness class, within 18 months. If the patch missed the root cause, the sibling bug is here.

No nightly-computed relations.

Chain candidates

An authentication bypass and a privilege-requiring bug in the same product, published close together: combined they may become an unauthenticated path.
