Apache StreamPark (incubating): Authenticated system users could trigger SQL injection vulnerability

Noroxi assessment

Priority: Monitor (action score 19/100)

  • The sources we track (CISA KEV, Exploit-DB, Metasploit, Nuclei, GitHub) show no public exploit code or exploitation in the wild.
  • Probability of exploitation in the next 30 days: 0.85% (FIRST EPSS); higher than 57.3% of all records.
  • Anyone who can reach it over the internet can trigger it. Administrator privileges are required. No user action is required. No special conditions are required; it is repeatable.
  • Fixed version: Apache Software Foundation Apache StreamPark (incubating) 2.1.2.

Low priority for now. Upgrade to Apache Software Foundation Apache StreamPark (incubating) 2.1.2 or later.

Primary sources: NVD · CVE.org · FIRST EPSS

In the Streampark platform, when users log in to the system and use certain features, some pages provide a name-based fuzzy search, such as job names, role names, etc. The sql syntax :select * from table where jobName like '%jobName%'. However, the jobName field may receive illegal parameters, leading to SQL injection. This could potentially result in information leakage. Mitigation: Users are recommended to upgrade to version 2.1.2, which fixes the issue.

Root cause

The query text is built by concatenating user input. The database cannot tell where the data ends and the command begins.

A representative example of this vulnerability class. Not the vendor's source code; it shows the faulty pattern and its fix.

Vulnerable

ts
const owner = req.query.owner;const rows = await db.query(  "SELECT * FROM files WHERE owner = '" + owner + "'");

Fixed

ts
const owner = req.query.owner;const rows = await db.query(  "SELECT * FROM files WHERE owner = $1",  [owner]);
